Winter Star Illuminates Tenerife’s Cabildo Square
The Plaza del Cabildo in Tenerife is set to be transformed into a magical space with the cultural spectacle ‘Ilusiones de Navidad – Estrella de Invierno’ (Christmas Illusions – Winter Star). The show will be inaugurated on Friday, 19th December at 8:00 pm. The President of the Tenerife Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, explained that this year the Cabildo building itself will become a giant canvas for this large-format event, using its architecture to create an immersive experience through 3D video mapping, LED lighting, lasers, and special effects.
A Journey Through the Kingdoms of Christmas
“It’s an aesthetic proposal that combines Christmas tradition and technology. The ‘Estrella de Invierno’ show will take attendees on a magical journey through the Kingdoms of Christmas: Remembrance, Wonder, Tradition, and Dreams,” Dávila stated. She emphasised that the Tenerife Cabildo reaffirms, “once again, its commitment to culture and art, offering citizens and visitors the chance to enjoy a quality spectacle that will not only enrich our festivities but also boost the visibility of local talent, consolidating our Islands as a benchmark for creativity and excellence.”
A 100% Canarian Production
The director of Encaro Factory, Enrique Camacho, highlighted that “this is a 100% original show created for the Cabildo, with music specially composed for it and, therefore, a 100% Canarian production.” The musical and vocal section features a first-rate Canarian cast, carefully selected to guarantee both artistic excellence and cultural closeness with the Tenerife public. The voices of Alexis Hernández, Jadel, Mel Ömana, Miriam Reyes, and Árgel Campos will be heard.
Building on Past Success With Inclusive Design
This event is a continuation of the success achieved with the ‘Brillantina en Navidad’ show last year, promising to be an unforgettable Christmas experience, full of emotion, advanced technology, and a strong commitment to local talent. ‘Estrella de Invierno’ reinforces the Cabildo’s goal of promoting culture and the arts, positioning Tenerife as a benchmark in the field of major European spectacles.
The show is not solely focused on visual and technological aspects but has also been designed to be an inclusive and accessible experience for all ages. Every component, from the music to the scenography, is intended to involve the entire audience. Scenographer Carlos Santos and lighting designer/mapping coordinator Juanjo Beloqui explained that infographics will be used to create virtual worlds, “all modelled and animated by hand.” The lighting will be designed so the public feels integrated and part of the scene.
Boosting the Local Economy and Talent
Beyond its cultural value, ‘Estrella de Invierno’ has a positive impact on the local economy. The production of this event has created up to 100 direct and indirect jobs in areas such as sound, lighting, scenography, and production. It will also generate employment opportunities in sectors linked to tourism, hospitality, and local commerce, which benefit from the influx of visitors to the area during the Christmas holidays. With investment in local talent, suppliers, and Canarian companies, the event contributes to the development of the cultural and economic fabric of Santa Cruz and Tenerife, supporting both small businesses and local entrepreneurs.
