UD Las Palmas Bolsters Squad with Experienced Goalkeeper
UD Las Palmas announced on Monday the signing of Andalusian goalkeeper José Antonio Caro, who joins the Gran Canaria club as a free agent for the upcoming LaLiga Hypermotion season. The 31-year-old from Huelva has signed a one-year contract, valid until June 30, 2026, following his previous stint with Cádiz.
A Proven Performer Between the Posts
The island-based club highlighted Caro’s qualities in their official statement, praising his “experience, reliability, offensive play, leadership, and commanding presence.” With over 200 appearances in Spain’s Segunda División, the seasoned goalkeeper brings a wealth of expertise to the team. His career began in Sevilla FC’s youth academy, where he progressed to Sevilla Atlético before stints with Valladolid, Albacete, Ponferradina, Burgos, and Cádiz. Notably, during his time with Burgos in 2022, he set a record for the longest unbeaten streak in professional football.
Arrival and Presentation
Caro is scheduled to arrive in Gran Canaria on Tuesday and will be officially presented at the Ciudad Deportiva de Barranco Seco following the first team’s training session. His addition marks a strategic move for UD Las Palmas as they prepare for the challenges of the new season.
