UD Las Palmas Bolsters Squad with Experienced Goalkeeper
UD Las Palmas announced on Monday the signing of Andalusian goalkeeper José Antonio Caro, who joins the Gran Canaria club as a free agent for the upcoming LaLiga Hypermotion season. The 31-year-old from Huelva has signed a one-year contract, valid until June 30, 2026, after spending last season with Cádiz.
A Proven Performer Between the Posts
In their official statement, the island club highlighted Caro’s experience, leadership, and reliability in goal, as well as his strong offensive play. With over 200 appearances in Spain’s Segunda División, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. Notably, he set a professional football record for longest unbeaten streak in 2022 while playing for Burgos.
A Well-Traveled Career
Caro began his career in Sevilla FC’s youth academy before progressing to Sevilla Atlético. His journey has taken him through Valladolid, Albacete, Ponferradina, Burgos, and most recently, Cádiz. His arrival in Gran Canaria is scheduled for Tuesday, with an official presentation set to take place at the Ciudad Deportiva de Barranco Seco following the first team’s training session.
