A weekend of culture and festivity in Tenerife
Tenerife remains packed with activities this weekend, thanks to a concerted public and private effort to keep the island’s leisure scene thriving. From cinema events and live music to Christmas festivities, there are numerous options for experiencing something different. If you were thinking of staying in, you might want to reconsider and pick out an outfit, as you won’t want to miss these engaging events.
Poetic cinema at TEA
TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is screening Ariel this weekend at 7:00 PM. This film by Lois Patiño adapts Shakespeare’s The Tempest, offering a poetic reflection on freedom and destiny. Starring Agustina Muñoz, Irene Escolar, Hugo Torres, José Díaz, and Marta Pazos, the story explores ideas of liberty through the lens of fear and extends an invitation to the adventure of living. Ariel weaves meta-narrative games between reality and fiction through multiple dualities and will be shown in its original version in Spanish, Galician, and Portuguese with Spanish subtitles.
Christmas markets and live music
The Christmas celebrations continue this weekend at the Gastro Market Tenerife Fest in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, featuring musical programming and gastronomic offerings. Specifically, the acts performing on Saturday will be Maldita Nerea and Sofía Povedano, while on Sunday it will be the turn of Yosu Laroca, David Borrás & Yasmine, and Aduen Amaya.
In La Laguna, the Plaza de la Navidad (Plaza del Cristo) will host a concert by Leire Martínez on Saturday at 8:30 PM. On Sunday, the venue will present the family show ‘El relojero de los sueños’ (The Dream Clockmaker).
An evening of Canarian comedy
The Canarian comedian Darío López will present his show ‘Medio Totufo’ this Saturday at the Teatro Unión Tejina. With this performance, Darío López returns to the stage to demonstrate that no problem is so big it can’t be made worse with bad advice or a good dose of indecision. In it, he tackles the small and large decisions of daily life. Through monologues, anecdotes, and a key touch of interaction with the audience, Darío invites us to laugh at our own foolishness.
