La Laguna: Zombie Walks and Cross-Cultural Celebrations
The historic quarter of San Cristóbal de La Laguna will transform into a movie set on October 31st with the arrival of the Isla Calavera Zombie Walk. This march serves as the opening event for the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival – Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera and promises an afternoon filled with humor, music, and fun for all ages. Tenerife-born actor and comedian Aarón Gómez will be the master of ceremonies for this parade of the living dead, which kicks off at the Plaza del Adelantado.
From 5:00 PM, participants can enjoy free makeup and entertainment, with the zombie march itself setting off at 8:00 PM towards the Plaza de la Concepción. The event will feature the Musical Band of Tejina and will conclude with awards for the Best Zombie, Best Walker, and Best Group.
Beyond the zombies, La Laguna is hosting the cultural program “Patrimonios Cruzados: Día de Muertos – Noche de Finados,” a series of events that beautifully blends Mexican and Canarian traditions surrounding the celebration of the deceased. From October 24th to November 21st, various locations across the municipality will offer activities for all ages.
Highlights include the Route of Altars, which can be visited until November 8th, and the traditional Mass for the Deceased (Misa de Finados), to be held on November 2nd in the main Church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción. Furthermore, a Catrinas Parade is scheduled for November 8th at 5:30 PM, followed by a Mariachi Party at 7:00 PM next to the Torre de Concepción. The program also includes an Embroidery Workshop at the Cristino de Vera Foundation, a Catrinas Promenade until November 10th, and a Talk on Grief on November 21st, led by psychologist Carmen Delia García León.
Puerto de la Cruz: A Lively Halloween Party
Puerto de la Cruz is preparing for one of its most animated nights with a Halloween Party organized by the Town Council’s Department of Festivities. The event takes place on Friday, October 31st in the Plaza del Charco, running from 6:00 PM until midnight. The program includes inflatable castles, horror workshops, and a terrifying show, alongside music and entertainment for everyone. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume to fully immerse themselves in the mysterious atmosphere.
From 8:00 PM, the party continues on Perdomo Street, where a DJ zone will be set up with music until midnight. This is a perfect option for those looking to celebrate Halloween with rhythm and a vibrant party atmosphere in Tenerife.
La Victoria de Acentejo: A Family-Friendly Fright Fest
The municipality of La Victoria de Acentejo will host the most terrifying afternoon of the year with a project designed for the whole family. On October 31st, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, El Pinar Park will become a space full of magic, mystery, and fun, with programming driven by the local Town Council.
Themed workshops, fantastic characters, face painting, and a tunnel of terror are just some of the activities to be enjoyed in the village, along with other surprises. One of the most anticipated acts is the performance by Mexican storyteller Víctor Arjona, who will present his show “Día de Muertos: Una ofrenda de cuento” (Day of the Dead: A Story Offering). The space will feature handmade decorations created by users of the municipality’s Occupational Center.
Arafo: A Traditional and Solidarity “Noche de Finaos”
Arafo celebrates its traditional Solidarity Noche de Finaos on October 31st in the Plaza de San Juan Degollado. Starting at 8:00 PM, attendees can enjoy the classic roasting of chestnuts, perfectly accompanied by wines from the Arafo Designation of Origin. The evening will feature musical performances by the Septeto Boyeros and the Parranda de Nuestra Isla.
Attendance required prior registration at the Town Hall along with a solidarity donation of 6 euros, destined for the ProSocial Association “Mi Barrio El Carmen se Mueve.” Organized by the Arafo Town Council in collaboration with Volcánic Xperience Dinamiza Rural and the Government of the Canary Islands, the event invites neighbors and visitors to bring their own food and drink to share, fostering a true community spirit.
