Flight Makes Emergency Return After Violent Turbulence
A Ryanair commercial flight that took off from Birmingham on Sunday 28 December bound for Europe ended up making an unexpected and traumatic U-turn. Just 90 minutes after departure, the aircraft was forced to return under emergency conditions after experiencing a series of violent turbulence episodes that threw passengers from their seats. The plane was at 35,000 feet over French airspace when the alert was triggered, according to reports from the British newspaper the Birmingham Mail.
Passengers Thrown From Seats in Mid-Air Plunge
The flight descended abruptly to 10,000 feet and turned back towards Birmingham Airport, where it was met by paramedics. A 33-year-old passenger from Lichfield, who shared her testimony anonymously, did not mince her words. “We were in stable flight when, suddenly, the plane banked violently to one side and then the other. It was a brutal jolt. We lost altitude suddenly and went flying from our seats,” she stated. The woman was physically unhurt but insists the psychological impact has been devastating. “I can’t stop reliving it. It was like being inside a plane crash. I feel completely traumatised.”
Cabin Service Halted as Emergency Protocols Activated
The incident occurred while the cabin crew were serving drinks, which worsened the situation. Several passengers were injured due to the lack of prior warning and the intensity of the shaking. According to The Aviation Herald, the crew halted the service and emergency protocols were activated. The plane landed just an hour and a half after take-off and was parked in a remote area of the airport to allow medical teams easy access. Some passengers required immediate medical assistance.
Claims of Military Jet Sighting Raise Questions
One of the most disturbing aspects of the event is what several passengers claim to have witnessed. “Some say they saw a military jet pass by just before it all began. How is it possible the plane’s radar didn’t detect it?” questioned the passenger. Although this version of events has not been officially confirmed, it has generated numerous questions among passengers and on social media. The fact that the aircraft performed extreme manoeuvres has raised suspicions about possible external interference or a threat in the airspace.
Crew Left Shaken by Unprecedented Ordeal
The crew members themselves, seasoned in flights across Europe, were left shaken. “They told us they had never experienced anything so terrifying in all their years of service,” the passenger affirmed.
