Revolver’s El Dorado Anniversary Tour Arrives in Gran Canaria
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is one of just eleven cities hosting ‘El Dorado 30 Aniversario’, the tour commemorating the landmark anniversary of Revolver’s acclaimed album, ‘El Dorado’. Led by Carlos Goñi, the band will perform at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium this Friday, 2nd January 2026 – the first Friday of the new year. While tickets for the stalls are sold out, seats remain available in the upper amphitheatres.
A Special Bond with the Canary Islands
The rock group fronted by Carlos Goñi has a particular affinity with the Canaries, regularly stopping in the archipelago. Although this ‘El Dorado’ tour, which concludes on 5th February in Barcelona, will only visit Gran Canaria, Revolver performed in Tenerife as recently as 7th June last year. That unforgettable concert took place at the Teobaldo Power Auditorium in La Orotava.
The Band and the Setlist
On stage at the Alfredo Kraus, Goñi’s voice and guitar will be backed by Alfredo Lorente on bass, Miguel Giner on drums, David Samaniego on piano, and Josvi Muñoz on saxophone. True to the tour’s concept – eleven cities for the album’s eleven tracks – the band will play the ‘El Dorado’ album in its entirety. They will also treat the audience to several of their other greatest hits.
A Celebration, Not Just a Tour
Carlos Goñi (Madrid, 1961) has published a letter to his legion of fans, stating that “El Dorado 30 aniversario is not a standard tour, at least not the most common kind; no: it is a celebration where the entire album will be played from start to finish in some of the most majestic and beautiful theatres and venues in this country.” The composer added, “I am aware that this album – like ‘Básico’ – has been fundamental in my career and that is why it deserves a slightly more special treatment. Furthermore, it was, without a doubt, the foundation upon which I began to build the sound that to this day remains the hallmark of the band.”
The Legacy of El Dorado
‘El Dorado’ is Revolver’s third studio album. It was released in 1995 by Warner Music, a couple of years after their celebrated live acoustic album ‘Básico’, which broke the mould in the Spanish rock scene at the time. Its first single, ‘No va más’, along with ‘El Dorado’, ‘Esperando mi tren’, and ‘Por un beso’ are some of the eleven compositions, all by Goñi, that feature on the record. The album was praised by critics and the public for its “aroma of Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band” and for incorporating Tex-Mex sounds and a “full-blown American rock character”, according to the record label.
