Christmas Tour Turns to Panic After Falling Milk Carton
What should have been a magical afternoon for dozens of families turned into a moment of sheer panic this Sunday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A double-decker tourist bus, packed with children enjoying a Christmas tour, was struck by a falling one-litre milk carton, thrown from a sixth-floor flat on the central Calle Néstor de la Torre. The container hit the vehicle violently as it travelled with its upper deck open. Although it miraculously did not strike any passenger, the loud impact caused severe shock and alarm.
Bus Carried 35 Children and Pregnant Woman
On board the bus were 35 minors and several adults, including a pregnant woman, all taking part in an activity organised by the Grupo de Animación Franki y Popy as part of the city’s Christmas programme. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm, prompting the immediate intervention of the Local Police and traffic officers. The bus came to a halt while the condition of the passengers was checked; while no one suffered physical injuries, they were all considerably shaken.
Police Investigate Suspected Deliberate Act
Initial testimony gathered by authorities suggests the object was thrown intentionally from a privately rented flat. The alleged perpetrators are believed to be two minors, whose identities are currently being verified. If confirmed, this would constitute an act of vandalism posing a real risk to people’s safety, particularly given the vulnerable group on the bus.
Severe Danger of Falling Objects
Dropping objects from buildings is an action that can have very serious consequences, both legal and physical. A simple milk carton, falling from several metres high, can cause severe injury or even prove lethal if it hits a person directly.
