Maspalomas Soul Festival Hits National Television
This Thursday, Spain’s national broadcaster, RTVE, will air a special program on La 2 dedicated to the ninth edition of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival. The event, which drew over 12,000 spectators to San Agustín beach from July 18-20, will be broadcast nationwide starting at 00:35 Canary Islands time.
A Summer Musical Staple
The festival’s success is largely credited to Elena Álamo Vega, the second deputy mayor and head of Culture for the San Bartolomé de Tirajana council, and producer-director Dania Dévora. Together, they have solidified this event as a key musical highlight in the Canary Islands every July. Following two special 45-minute programs already broadcast in the Canaries, this national broadcast will allow the entire country to enjoy the live performances from both nights of the festival.
Relive the International Soul Lineup
The Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival is renowned for bringing the best of international soul to the islands. Thursday’s TV special will feature powerful performances by Jerome Chism, who led a tribute to the legendary Wilson Pickett, the acclaimed Burundian artist J.P. Bimeni & The Black Belts, and the iconic The Memphis Music Hall Band led by Kurt Clayton. The program will also showcase the formidable voices of Candy Fox, Jonté Mayon, Dani McGhee, Lil Rounds, and Shunta Mosby.
More Than Just Music
Designated as an event of local tourist interest, the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival has become an essential classic of the Canarian summer. It masterfully combines world-class musical culture with local gastronomy and family-friendly activities, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for all ages.
