A Month of Celebration in Maspalomas
Maspalomas, one of the most emblematic LGTBIQ+ tourism destinations in Europe, is preparing to become the global epicenter of diversity and music once again in May 2026. Following the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Maspalomas Pride by Freedom 2026—which will be condensed into a 7-day event from May 4th to 10th—the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana is getting ready to reignite the pride with a vibrant new event: ‘Eurovision Pride’.
Eurovision Pride: A New Pop Festival
This new pop festival, inspired by the universe of the Eurovision Song Contest, will kick off just three days after Maspalomas Pride concludes. From May 14th to 17th, the stage lights at the Yumbo Centrum will shine bright once more, hosting live performances, live broadcasts of the Eurovision galas, special award shows, and themed parties celebrating the greatest pop anthems of recent decades. A giant 60-square-meter LED screen will be installed in the central plaza, allowing everyone to enjoy the semi-final and grand final of Eurovision 2026 together.
Solidifying a Unique Destination Status
Eurovision Pride is the new festival in Gran Canaria that masterfully combines music, spectacle, and community. This dual programming cements Maspalomas’s unique status as the only European destination to host two major international pride events in the same month. The festival’s schedule is packed with experiences, including two pool parties at the Ocean Club Maspalomas and the Seven Hotel & Wellness, a grand gala dedicated to Eurovision, and themed parties that will revisit the biggest Eurovision hits from the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.
A New Chapter in Diversity
Fernando Ilarduya, President of Freedom Asociación LGBT Maspalomas and promoter of this new event, highlighted the vision behind the festival: “Eurovision Pride was born to expand the Pride experience and offer visitors a new way to live the spirit of Eurovision, with freedom, respect, and lots of pop music.” With this new proposal, the tourist enclave of Maspalomas reaffirms its international leadership as a benchmark destination for LGTBIQ+ tourism, culture, and the celebration of pride, adding a vibrant new chapter to its rich history of diversity and coexistence.
