La Orotava’s Sweet Kings’ Eve Tradition
La Orotava has once again sweetened Three Kings’ Eve with the celebration of its Giant ‘Roscón’ cake, which measures approximately 500 metres in length. This event is now a firm fixture in the town’s festive Christmas calendar.
A Festive Gathering for All
The avenue Emilio Luque Moreno (opposite La Milagrosa School) was the setting where, this Sunday, people could sample a portion of this classic Christmas sweet. The activity serves as a way to boost local commercial activity and offer residents and visitors a family-friendly experience in a festive, Christmas atmosphere. Throughout the day, slices of the giant roscón, made by the Manobuena patisserie and Jovita bakery, were handed out.
It became an intergenerational meeting point where young and old could enjoy not only a delicious treat but also the lively musical ambience.
A Cherished Christmas Highlight
After fourteen editions, the Giant Kings’ Day Cake has become one of the most anticipated events of the Christmas season in La Orotava. It plays a key role in keeping traditions alive and energising the town centre during days that are crucial for the local economy.
