Award-winning magic returns to the canaries
Illusionist Jorge Blass (Madrid, 1980) is returning to the Canary Islands with his spectacular show, Ilusionarte. Promoted as “a magical journey that combines art, emotion, and cutting-edge technology,” the tour is organized by a local producer and kicks off on September 17th. Blass, a master of his craft, was awarded the prestigious Stage Magician of The Year prize last year, an honor considered the Oscar of the magic world.
Tour dates and venues across the archipelago
The tour is brought to the islands by Atlántico Producciones, a Canary Islands-based production company, with support from the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development (ICDC). The magical journey begins on September 17th at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna, Tenerife. It continues on September 19th at the Auditorio Infanta Leonor in Arona, also on Tenerife. The next day, September 20th, the show arrives at the Multicines Atlántida in Lanzarote, followed by a performance on September 21st at the Centro Cultural Federico García Lorca in Ingenio, Gran Canaria.
The tour continues in November with a stop in Fuerteventura on Saturday the 22nd at the Auditorio Insular in Puerto del Rosario. The island tour culminates on November 23rd at the Teatro Víctor Jara in Vecindario, Gran Canaria. Tickets are already on sale through the producer’s website, the artist’s own official website, and at the official box offices of each venue.
More than tricks: an emotional experience
In the words of Jorge Blass himself, “Ilusionarte is not a trick, it is an art; a declaration of love for magic and for the capacity for wonder that we all carry inside.” According to the press release from the promoter, during the show “the audience doesn’t just observe, but participates, fantasizes, and lets themselves be carried away by impossible effects, all within a minimalist scenography that enhances the essential element: the emotion of belief.”
A celebrated career in illusion
Internationally recognized for his contemporary approach to magic, Blass expertly blends illusion with storytelling—the art of using narrative to connect emotionally with an audience and convey messages and values in a memorable way. A disciple of the great Juan Tamariz, he joined the Spanish Society of Illusionism at just thirteen years old. By sixteen, he was performing for the famed David Copperfield, who specifically requested to meet Blass while on tour in Spain.
Now 45, the Madrid-born magician boasts an outstanding resume. One of his proudest achievements, appropriately enough, is his direction of the International Festival of Magic of Madrid. He created this event in 2011, and it has been a recurring winter highlight at the capital’s Teatro Circo Price ever since, only interrupted during the pandemic. The festival serves as a global showcase for young professional magicians from all over the planet to display their talents.
