Imserso 2025/2026 Travel Booking Dates Announced
The travel booking period for the Imserso 2025/2026 tourism program begins this Monday, October 6th. Residents of the Canary Islands, Asturias, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia, Ceuta, the Balearic Islands, La Rioja, Navarre, and the Basque Country can make their reservations starting at 09:00. For the rest of Spain—Andalusia, Aragon, Cantabria, Castile and León, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Melilla, and Murcia—booking opens on Wednesday, October 8th.
How to Book Your Subsidized Holiday
Since September 11th, the Institute has been sending out a total of 2.8 million accreditation letters to the 4.3 million people eligible to travel with the new program, which offers 879,213 places. Each letter includes a unique four-digit code. This code, along with a copy of your National ID (DNI), allows the holder to make a reservation online through the booking centers of the appointed tour operators: Turismo Social (Ávoris) and the UTE Mundicolor. For those preferring to book in person, simply bring your DNI to any travel agency collaborating with the program.
Destination Breakdown and New Initiatives
The program is divided into three main holiday types. Mainland coastal tourism accounts for the largest share with 440,284 places, followed by 228,142 places for island coastal trips (including the Canary and Balearic Islands), and 210,787 places for short breaks. As Imserso highlighted, this new season aims to expand the right to “active ageing” through travel, ensuring that people with lower incomes are not excluded.
€50 Flat Rate for Lower Pensions
A significant innovation for the upcoming season is the introduction of 7,447 places priced at just €50 each. These are reserved for individuals with the lowest pensions, regardless of the destination, and are distributed across all travel lots and modalities. These subsidized places are intended for those with financial resources equal to or below the amount of non-contributory retirement or disability pensions from Social Security.
Travel With Your Pet
In another first, program users will be able to travel with their pets on both mainland and island coastal trips. A dedicated 2% of the total places in these two categories will be reserved for travelers with a companion animal. To qualify, the pet must be a domestic animal that does not exceed 10 kilograms in weight, including its carrier. This initiative is designed to allow travelers to maintain their pet’s care routine while on holiday.
Broader Social and Economic Impact
Imserso also emphasized the program’s wide-ranging positive impact. It not only promotes an active and social lifestyle for seniors but also fosters intergenerational and interregional solidarity by facilitating travel between different autonomous communities. Furthermore, these trips generate employment and significant economic activity across Spain. An added advantage is the program’s role in mitigating tourism seasonality, helping to preserve jobs during the off-peak season. For this reason, the new tender requires the appointed companies to avoid concentrating these trips within a narrow timeframe.
