Gran Canaria Boosts Tourism with €2.2M for Arucas Hotel

Gran Canaria Invests in Arucas’ Emblematic Hotel Project

The Canary Islands Government has approved an additional €2.2 million in funding to support the development of Arucas’ landmark hotel project in Gran Canaria. This expansion, agreed upon during Thursday’s council session, aims to enhance the local tourism offering while adhering to the Canary Islands Tourism Infrastructure Strategy.

A Strategic Tourism Boost

The funding request came from Arucas’ local council to the Canary Islands Ministry of Tourism and Employment, which recognized the project’s potential to transform the area’s tourism landscape. The initiative aligns with five key pillars of the regional strategy: accessibility and safe mobility, digital transformation, experiential tourism diversification, environmental sustainability, and climate change mitigation.

Prioritizing Community and Culture

Tourism Minister Jéssica de León emphasized that municipalities with clear visions for improving residents’ lives through cultural, coastal, or midland tourism projects receive priority support. “When local councils present well-defined plans that combine tourism development with quality of life improvements, our ministry consistently responds,” she stated in an official release.
