Emergency Response to Reported Gas Leak
The Consortium for Security and Emergencies on Lanzarote reported an incident this Friday on the LZ-20 road, which connects Arrecife and San Bartolomé. The alert was raised near the exit of Arrecife, close to the Argana Alta neighbourhood, where a gas escape was registered.
Motorist’s Bottles Cause the Scare
The situation was initially detected by a member of the public who reported the emergency. Upon arrival, authorities confirmed the individual involved was not a delivery driver, but a citizen transporting three five-litre gas bottles in his car for personal use. The man explained he had refilled the bottles at a Disa service station and had noticed some of them were losing gas.
Firefighters Locate and Secure Leak
Firefighters quickly attended the scene and located a small leak in one of the bottles. The affected man also stated he had left one bottle at another location, but a search failed to locate it. Following protocol, the emergency services decided to meet the individual at the Disa service station to return the three secured bottles to him.
Unusual Conclusion to the Alert
However, upon arriving at the service station, the authorities could not find the man. Consequently, the bottles were left at the station for him to collect at his convenience, bringing the incident to a close.
