FAVE Festival Illuminates Santa Cruz de La Palma
The Visual and Performing Arts Festival (FAVE) is in full swing, having successfully concluded its first two days and immersing the city in a breathtaking experience of light and color. Following the success of the opening street bands and initial performances, the center of Santa Cruz de La Palma is now preparing for a weekend deluge of free art, with light and visual spectacle taking center stage.
A Vibrant Start with Music and Performance
So far, the party in the streets has been guaranteed by the rhythm of the marching bands, with performances by Charanga La Guataca and Indiana Dixieland filling the city’s main street, Calle Real, with music. The performing arts segment has showcased the talent and controlled chaos of the company Cris-is with their production ‘Home’, alongside the contemporary satire and humor of Abubukaka in their show ‘Foscurí’.
The Magical Forest: The Festival’s Centerpiece
The major attraction and visual anchor of the festival is ‘The Magical Forest’ by Imaginart Teatro Videomapping. This spectacular multidisciplinary installation takes over La Alameda square and integrates its elements—from the statue of the Enano and El Barco de La Virgen to the kiosk—into an immersive experience of light play and technology. The installation features three daily circus performances at 8:15 PM, 9:00 PM, and 9:45 PM, but can be visited anytime from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Sunday, November 16th, the festival’s closing date.
A Weekend Packed with Talent and Family Fun
FAVE now faces its most intense weekend with a program brimming with talent. Saturday, November 15th, will be the day of micro-theatre and family activities. The company Toti Toronell will present their ingenious proposal ‘Microshakespeare’ in several shows at Plaza de España.
The morning program also includes ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ by the company Niñolandia at the Llano de las Monjas children’s park at 11:00 AM. Adding a component of movement and spectacle to the day at Plaza de Santo Domingo will be the local talent of the San Miguel Historical Fencing Association.
Grand Finale on Sunday
On Sunday, November 16th, the free culture continues with the family theatre ‘Cazopera’ by Ángulo Producciones at 11:00 AM, followed by the street parade ‘A La Fresca’ by Cía. Anna Confetti. The festival’s closing will feature a powerful proposal of dance and movement in Plaza de España and Plaza de Santo Domingo, courtesy of the company Brodas Bros and their army of light.
Practical Information for Visitors
The City Council’s Department of Culture for Santa Cruz de La Palma reaffirms its commitment that “the culture must not stop.” Should adverse weather affect any show, a contingency protocol will activate an alternative space, which will be communicated through the festival’s social media channels. All residents and visitors are invited to enjoy the joy, wonder, and rhythm that still awaits in the city center.
