Tech and Gaming Sectors Unite to Boost Canary Islands Economy

Major Pact to Drive Canarian Tech and Gaming Sectors

Three key business organisations in Santa Cruz de Tenerife have signed a collaboration agreement to jointly boost the development of the technology and video game sectors across the Canary Islands. The signatories are the Provincial Federation of Metal and New Technology Companies of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Femete), the Tenerife Business Association for IT and Telecommunications (Asinte), and the Canary Islands Association of Video Game Developers (Acadevi).

A Framework for Innovation and Growth

The agreement establishes a stable framework for cooperation with the goal of fostering innovation, business and professional development, specialised training, technological outreach, and the promotion of the ICT and video game sectors within the signatories’ territory. Key action lines include collaboration between Femete and Asinte to raise the profile of Acadevi’s activities. Furthermore, the business federation will provide space at its headquarters in La Laguna to host outreach events and activities linked to the video game sector and other initiatives of common interest.

The pact also envisages joint work on projects and actions that strengthen synergies between the organisations themselves and their member companies.

Industry Leaders Hail Strategic Partnership

Commenting on the signed agreement, the President of Femete, Juan Antonio Jiménez Arranz, emphasised that it “reinforces our commitment to innovation, technology, and the diversification of the Canary Islands’ business fabric, integrating the video game sector as a strategic activity with great growth potential.” He highlighted that “collaboration between business organisations is key to generating real opportunities, sharing knowledge, and moving towards a more competitive and sustainable economic model.”

For her part, the President of Asinte, María Luisa de Arcos Díaz, stated that “this agreement consolidates Asinte’s role as a meeting point for the technology sector and opens new avenues for collaboration with a field as dynamic as video game development.” She added that “working in a coordinated way will allow us to promote talent, improve professional skills, and give greater visibility to a sector that brings innovation and added value to the Canarian economy.”

From Acadevi, its President David Carmona Ballester stressed that “this agreement is a decisive step to strengthen the video game industry in the Canary Islands, facilitate its integration into the technological ecosystem, and encourage the creation of synergies with established companies.” He also affirmed that “collaboration with Femete and Asinte will drive joint initiatives, showcase local talent, and foster new growth opportunities for studios and developers across the Archipelago.”

Ongoing Commitment with a Monitoring Commission

The agreement also includes the creation of a monitoring committee comprising representatives from the three entities, which will periodically assess the level of compliance and results of the actions undertaken. It will have an initial term of one year, automatically renewable, and is part of a shared commitment to promote an innovative, collaborative, and sustainable business ecosystem in the Canary Islands.
