November Passenger Traffic Sees Marginal Decline
The airports across the Canary Islands handled a total of 4,763,209 passengers in November, a slight decrease of 0.4% compared to the same month in 2024, according to data from Spanish airport operator AENA. Of this total, 4,743,145 were commercial flight passengers. Within this category, 1,704,358 travelled on domestic routes (a 2.4% drop year-on-year), while 3,038,787 were on international flights (a 0.9% increase). The period also saw 42,653 aircraft movements and the transport of 2,795 tonnes of cargo.
Island-by-Island Passenger Breakdown
Gran Canaria Airport recorded the highest passenger volume with 1,417,464 travellers, representing a 0.7% decrease from November 2024. It was followed by Tenerife South Airport with 1,283,688 passengers (-0.6%), César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport with 750,149 (+0.2%), and Fuerteventura Airport with 575,421 (-1.7%).
Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport saw 566,575 passengers, a 0.5% increase. La Palma Airport experienced strong growth, welcoming 133,680 passengers—a 3.8% rise. El Hierro Airport handled 25,943 passengers (-2.7%), while La Gomera Airport saw the most significant percentage increase, with 10,289 passengers representing a 4.9% jump.
Strong Year-to-Date Performance
From January to November 2025, Canary Islands airports have registered 50,026,791 passengers, a 4.1% increase over the same period in 2024. Of the 49,745,968 commercial passengers, 20,562,047 travelled on domestic flights (up 4.3%) and 29,183,921 on international flights (up 4.1%). The year-to-date figures also include 443,796 aircraft movements and 29,955 tonnes of cargo transported.
AENA Group Sees Overall Growth
The broader AENA Group, which comprises 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport, and 17 airports in Brazil, closed November 2025 with 27,681,817 passengers—a 4.7% year-on-year increase. The group managed 244,057 aircraft movements (up 1.6%) and transported 146,297 tonnes of cargo, a substantial 12.2% rise compared to November 2024.
