Audi marks 17 years of market leadership in the Canaries
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 7 January 2026. Audi has once again positioned itself as the best-selling premium car brand in the Canary Islands for 2025, reaching an impressive 17 consecutive years of leadership in the archipelago. The brand with the four rings closed the year with a 41% market share in the premium segment. This is the highest share achieved by Audi in any of the markets it operates in worldwide, a milestone it has now reached in the Canary Islands for the third year running.
This result reinforces the region’s role as a key market for the brand and highlights the trust of customers who choose it every day. These figures are the fruit of a year marked by an evolving model range, a firm commitment to electrification, and a people-centric approach to mobility. Throughout 2025, Audi increased its penetration in the private customer sales channel compared to the previous year, a growth that shows the brand continues to solidify its position as the premium brand of choice for Canary Islanders.
Top-selling models and key launches
This leading position is also reflected in the ranking of the best-selling premium models in the Canaries, with Audi occupying the top three spots in the market. In this context, the new Audi A3 stood out, registering the highest sales growth compared to the previous year. It was joined by the newly arrived Audi Q3, a model poised to become one of the market’s main protagonists due to its ability to adapt to every need and lifestyle.
According to Gernot Döllner, CEO of Audi, the new Audi Q3 “perfectly represents the balance between design, technology, and versatility that our customers seek today,” reinforcing expectations around one of the brand’s key launches. 2025 was a particularly significant year for Audi in terms of product. The brand carried out an intense launch offensive that strengthened its presence in strategic segments of the premium market.
Key highlights included the new Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback, as well as the refreshed Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback, two of the brand’s most important models by sales volume and positioning. These were joined by the new Audi A6 Saloon and Audi A6 Avant, alongside the arrival of the fully electric Audi A6 Sportback e-tron, Audi A6 Avant e-tron, and Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron. This reinforced Audi’s electrification strategy in the archipelago with a balanced offering of efficiency, design, and sportiness.
Electrification and high-performance highlights
In 2025, Audi strengthened its positioning on sustainability thanks to an increasingly comprehensive electrified range, present in almost all segments. This combines fully electric models and plug-in hybrid versions adapted to the needs of the Canary market and the particularities of the island environment. One of the stars of the year was the Audi A3 e-hybrid with plug-in hybrid powertrain, which became one of the most in-demand models among Canary Islanders within the brand’s electrified offering.
In the high-performance sports car segment, Audi Sport continued to be a benchmark in the Canaries in 2025, standing out for the exclusive and aspirational character of its range. The Audi RS 3 was one of the year’s big stars, doubling its sales compared to the previous year and establishing itself as one of the most sought-after high-performance models by clients in the archipelago.
The year was also marked by the delivery of especially exclusive units. These included the final Audi R8 sold in the islands following the model’s definitive end of production; unit number 23 of the limited-edition Audi RS 4 25th Anniversary edition, produced in a run of only 250 units worldwide; and an Audi RS e-tron GT performance with 925 PS, the most powerful series-production model built by the brand to date.
The ultimate collector’s piece: the Audi R8 ABT XGT
These deliveries were complemented by the arrival in the archipelago of the exclusive Audi R8 ABT XGT, an ultra-limited unit of maximum exclusivity, conceived as a true collector’s item. It is a radical competition vehicle homologated for road use, an unusual combination that transfers the track experience to the road without compromise.
Equipped with a 640 PS naturally aspirated V10 engine, rear-wheel drive, and a configuration directly inspired by the R8 LMS GT2 race car, the Audi R8 ABT XGT stands out for its extreme aerodynamics—with a large adjustable rear wing and intensive use of carbon fibre—as well as a set-up oriented towards maximum performance. The unit that arrived in the Canaries is number 20 in the limited series, and all indications suggest the final production run may have been fewer than the 99 units initially planned, further reinforcing its status as a model of ultimate exclusivity.
Cultural engagement and a look ahead to 2026
Beyond commercial results, Audi strengthened its presence in the social, cultural, and sporting life of the Canary Islands in 2025 through an intense schedule of events and experiences. Appointments such as Audi Golf Night by Mahou & Lopesan, Amarilla Night, or Gran Canaria Swim Week served as the stage for the premiere presentation of models like the new Audi Q3. Meanwhile, participation in cultural events like Fimucité, gastronomic proposals like The Wine Gallery, and sporting meets like the Audi Equestrian Cup or various golf tournaments reinforced the brand’s connection with leisure in the archipelago.
With the solid results of 2025 as a starting point, Audi faces 2026 with significant novelties for the Canary market. Among the upcoming launches, the arrival of the new Audi RS 5 stands out—one of the most anticipated launches of the year, set to mark a new milestone in the Audi Sport range thanks to an even more powerful and radical proposition.
Alongside this model, the roadmap for the year also includes the new generation of the Audi Q7, the new Audi Q9, a new fully electric compact model, as well as the refresh of the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Audi A3. Another major moment of 2026 will be marked by Audi’s eagerly awaited debut in Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport. This milestone represents a decisive step in Audi’s trajectory and will arrive with its own project, fully integrated into the brand’s strategy, reflecting its ambition to compete at the highest level and its ability to transfer innovation, performance, and technological development from the track to the road.
With all this, Audi faces the new year reaffirming its status as the leading premium brand in the Canary Islands, with a range undergoing full renewal and a strategy based on innovation, electrification, and excellence in customer service.
