A Magical Christmas Opening
The Cultural Association Salsipuedes is transforming the historic Palacete de la Marquesa in Arucas, opening it to the public for the first time for “The Grand Palacete of Dream Christmas.” This magical cultural project, developed with support from the Lopesan Group and Arucas City Council, will run on December 26, 27, 28 and January 2, 3, 4. Organizers expect around 20,000 visitors to enjoy this festive event over the six days.
A Journey Back in Time
During the presentation held in the Palacete’s carriage house, decorated with Christmas themes for the occasion, Salsipuedes director José Gilberto Moreno explained their goal is to create one of Gran Canaria’s premier Christmas activities. He described it as offering attendees “an authentic journey through time, recreating the Christmas festivities enjoyed by Arucas society in the early days of the 20th century.”
Planning Your Visit
Arucas Mayor Juan Jesús Facundo encouraged visitors to use public transport and the special circular bus service established for accessing the Palacete. He also emphasized that the city council has improved maintenance and lighting along the “Camino del Árbol Bonito” to encourage pedestrian access “via this historic royal path, approximately 500 meters long, which connects the Constitution Square with the Gardens of the Marquesa.”
Meticulous Historical Detailing
Pedro Rosales, Head of Relations for Participated Companies at the Lopesan Group, praised the sensational work by the Salsipuedes Association in characterizing each space of the Palacete included in the visit. He noted they are “taking care of and cherishing even the smallest detail, with the admiration and respect this iconic historic building deserves.” Rosales highlighted Lopesan Group’s commitment to collaborating with the municipality and revealed that this year, in addition to the Palacete, the company is also providing “the use of the Arucas Mountain for the New Year’s Eve fireworks show.”
The Dreamlike Setting
Visitors will be able to explore the majority of the rooms in the Palacete de la Marquesa, a building dating from approximately 1880, which will be decorated with original Christmas themes. The property was conceived as the summer mansion for the first Marquises of Arucas and is considered a historical treasure of the municipality. For this reason, the project has made every effort to preserve and present part of the original furniture, including some pieces over 150 years old.
An Immersive Experience
The experience is designed as a guided tour featuring a cast of more than 80 actors specially costumed for the occasion, respecting the period and incorporating Christmas elements to create a truly immersive historical experience.
Limited Ticket Information
The organization has established an opening schedule that differentiates between the experience with the full show and heritage-only visits. Tickets for the full show cost €5, with access permitted from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and the activity estimated to conclude around 11:00 PM.
Ticket sales will be in-person at the premises of the Cultural Association Salsipuedes, starting Thursday, December 11, with sales hours from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Director José Gilberto Moreno explained that “the decision not to sell tickets online aims to promote consumption within the municipality and, by requiring physical ticket collection, help stimulate the local economy.”
Heritage-Only Visiting Days
Additionally, two days have been designated for visiting the historical heritage without the show, scheduled for December 29 and 30. The symbolic price for this option is €1, with direct access to the Palacete and no need to collect tickets in advance. The goal is to facilitate access to the property for those who miss out on tickets for the full show, allowing them to visit the Palacete independently.
