Air France Expands Tenerife Service for the Holiday Season
Air France is set to increase its presence in Tenerife this upcoming Christmas season with a significant boost to its air connection between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Tenerife South Airport. The airline has confirmed it will operate four weekly flights from December 11th to January 10th. This expansion will make 3,224 seats available across the 18 planned operations, offering travelers more flexibility during the busy festive period.
Responding to Growing Demand
While this route is typically offered during the summer season, the company decided to extend it through the holidays due to the island’s growing popularity and high demand for direct connections from France. This strategic move caters to travelers seeking winter sun and a unique holiday experience.
A Vote of Confidence for Tenerife
Lope Afonso, Vice President and Minister of Tourism for the Tenerife Council, welcomed Air France’s announcement. He highlighted that this reinforcement “demonstrates the strength of the destination and the confidence that international airlines place in the island.” He noted that the increased capacity will help stimulate tourism activity during a particularly intense time of year and consolidate Tenerife’s position in the important French market.
French Market on the Rise
Dimple Melwani, CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, emphasized that this commitment reinforces the “growing interest of the French market in Tenerife.” She stated it is a direct result of the “joint work with airlines” to improve the destination’s air accessibility. The French market continues to show an upward trend on the island. According to the latest data from the Cabildo, from January to September 2025, a total of 313,034 tourists arrived in Tenerife from France. This represents a 7.6% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
Consolidating a Key Market
With these figures, France has solidified its position as the fourth largest source market for the island, trailing only behind the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany. The enhanced service from Air France during Christmas will help cement this positive trend and further diversify the origin of visitors, bringing more international flavor to Tenerife’s shores.
