Two Women Injured in GC-2 Motorway Rollover

Emergency Response to GC-2 Motorway Accident

Two women were injured, one seriously, on Tuesday afternoon when the car they were travelling in overturned on the GC-2 motorway. The incident occurred at around 5:00 pm near kilometre 20, in the municipality of Santa María de Guía on Gran Canaria.

Emergency Services Rush to the Scene

The Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received multiple alerts reporting the rollover on the island’s northern motorway. Personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) were dispatched to assist the two casualties.

Injured Women Taken to Hospital

A 19-year-old woman was found to have multiple contusions and was assessed as having a moderately serious prognosis. She was transported by a basic life support ambulance to the Clínica San José. An 18-year-old woman also suffered several moderate traumatic injuries and was taken to the same hospital in a separate basic life support ambulance.

Road Secured and Cleared

Firefighters from the Gran Canaria Consortium attended the scene to make the vehicle safe and clear the carriageway. The Guardia Civil managed traffic flow and began the official investigation into the accident.
