Tenerife Tram to Run All Night for New Year’s Eve
Line 1 of the Tenerife Tram will operate a continuous overnight service on New Year’s Eve, running from 9pm on Wednesday 31 December until 7am on Thursday 1 January. Operator Metrotenerife announced the special schedule, with trams running at frequencies of 15 and 20 minutes throughout the night.
Route Adjustments for Santa Cruz Celebrations
From 11pm onwards, trams will begin and end their journeys at the Teatro Guimerá stop in Santa Cruz. This change is to avoid the areas around Plaza de España and the Iglesia de la Concepción, where major public New Year’s celebrations are planned.
Detailed New Year’s Eve Timetable
On Wednesday 31 December, Line 1 will run at a frequency of 6 minutes during peak hours from 7am to 3pm. This will then change to intervals of 7.5 minutes, followed by a 10-minute service until 9pm. From that time, the all-night service of 15 to 20-minute intervals will begin.
For Line 2, frequencies throughout New Year’s Eve will be 12, 15 and 20 minutes until the service ends at midnight.
Impact of Ongoing Strike Action
Metrotenerife has reminded passengers that services on both 31 December and 1 January will be partially affected by the ongoing strike action being carried out by company staff from Monday to Friday. During the strike periods, the operator will maintain service on Lines 1 and 2 with the established minimum service level of 80%.
