A Historic Christmas for a Reopened Icon
The Gran Hotel Taoro is set to celebrate its first Christmas season since the building’s reopening, a milestone of special significance for Puerto de la Cruz and for those who have closely followed the recovery of this emblem of the Canary Islands’ tourist heritage. With over a century of history, the hotel is once again placing itself at the centre of social life in the north of Tenerife. Now, in a new era, the hotel combines its historical legacy with a contemporary and refined offering.
The New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner
The festive programme reaches its peak on 31 December with the celebration of the Gran Cena de Gala de Nochevieja (New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner), an event that aims to become a highlight in Puerto de la Cruz’s social calendar. The evening will begin with a welcome cocktail on the panoramic terrace of the Tagoror Lobby & Bar Lounge, where guests can toast with open views of the ocean and the Orotava Valley.
The celebration will then move to the hotel’s flagship Ballroom Taoro, where a menu specially designed for the occasion will be served. This includes creations such as blue lobster tournedos with a light fennel cream, and a Galician beef cheek with black potato parmentier and truffle. The dessert, a Guinness savarin with salted caramel and cocoa, will complete a high-end gastronomic proposal, paired with an exquisite selection of wines and Taittinger Brut Réserve Champagne.
The experience also includes the tradition of the twelve grapes at midnight, an open bar for one hour, and a Belle Époque-inspired party bag with a dance floor.
Christmas Eve Dining Across the Hotel’s Restaurants
Furthermore, the hotel invites guests to enjoy its distinct and exquisite gastronomic spaces on Christmas Eve, 24 December. LAVA, led by chef Erlantz Gorostiza, will propose a dinner articulated around the elements and technique. AMALUR, also under Gorostiza’s direction, will offer a more approachable and contemporary gastronomic proposal. OKA, headed by Ricardo Sanz, will present an evening focused on high Japanese cuisine with the chef’s personal touch. After dinner, guests can gather in the Tagoror Lobby & Bar Lounge, where the night will continue with signature cocktails and lively conversation.
Christmas and New Year Day Brunches
On 25 December, the Christmas Brunch will take place in the Restaurante Atlántico, an open space facing the sea that offers a particularly bright atmosphere during these dates, accompanied by live music. On 1 January, the same space will host the New Year’s Brunch, a proposal designed to start the year in a festive atmosphere, with views of the Atlantic and the Orotava Valley.
Inaugurating a New Festive Era
These celebrations inaugurate a new festive chapter for the Gran Hotel Taoro, reaffirming its vocation to become a cultural, social, and gastronomic reference point in Tenerife.
