Tickets for the 42nd Festival Go on Sale

The Canary Islands International Music Festival (FIMC) will begin selling tickets for its 42nd edition tomorrow, Thursday 11 December. The festival, which is a unique event of its kind in the world, will feature 61 concerts staged across all eight islands from 8 January to 7 February 2026. Over 41,000 tickets will be available for a programme packed with great international artists and some of the world’s finest orchestras.

A Stellar Lineup of International Talent

Organised by the Canary Islands Government’s Department of Culture under the slogan ‘Let the Music Captivate You’, this year’s festival boasts a remarkable roster of classical music figures. The lineup includes acclaimed pianist Yuja Wang, celebrated cellist Sol Gabetta, flamenco singer Estrella Morente, pianist Arcadi Volodos, and conductors such as Paavo Järvi and Jakub Hrůša. They will be joined by the talents of Martin Helmchen (piano), Vadim Repin (violin), and Emmanuel Pahud (flute), among many others.

World-Class Orchestras and a Tribute to Falla

The 42nd FIMC will be inaugurated by the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and Choir, who will kick things off with a tribute to Manuel de Falla on the 150th anniversary of his birth, under the direction of Christoph König. This powerful start will be followed just two days later by a visit from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, ranked among the world’s top five, conducted by the great Estonian maestro Paavo Järvi.

Other distinguished ensembles performing include the Bamberg Symphony, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the SWR Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra. The festival will also feature the two host orchestras: the Gran Canaria Philharmonic, which will join Estrella Morente in the Falla tribute and pay homage to Ravel; and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, directed by Pablo González, which will perform with the applauded violinist Vadim Repin. Both orchestras have also prepared exquisite programmes for the non-capital islands.

Spotlight on Canarian Creation and Diverse Formats

The festival continues its commitment to local musical creation and talent. This edition will see the premiere of two works by Canarian composers: ‘Oratorium’ by Gonzalo Díaz Yerro and ‘Ángel de arena’ by Cecilia Díaz Pestano. Performances by pianist Gabriel Ducatenzeiler Kapp and soprano Raquel Lojendio further highlight local artistry.

Through its ‘En Paralelo’ (In Parallel) section, the FIMC showcases diverse musical styles, from jazz to popular music, that converge with classical. This successful formula attracts new audiences and this year features a concert by the legendary jazz bands Snarky Puppy (USA) and the Metropole Orkest (Netherlands). The programme also includes the concert-version show ‘Canarii, pa’s adentro’, co-created by Manuel González and Daniel Abreu with Teddy Bautista and Olga Cerpa, among others. This section is rounded out by Guiguan Project with German trumpeter Markus Stockhausen, the island formation Just 5 Brass, and the roots music show ‘Arahal, un lugar donde descansar’ by Compañía Pieles.
