Historic Valleseco Building Gets a Sustainable Future
The town hall of Valleseco in Gran Canaria has announced plans to transform a 19th-century building, which served as the municipal headquarters for four decades, into an “Ecoliving” accommodation with 14 rooms. This future space is conceived as an “innovative, sustainable, and dynamic meeting point,” specifically aimed at digital nomads and nature-loving tourists.
A Vision for Community and Environment
According to the local council, the project’s goal is to “foster a community-oriented, healthy, and environmentally responsible lifestyle.” The complex will be much more than just a place to sleep. It is designed to become a hub for like-minded travelers seeking an authentic and sustainable experience in the heart of Gran Canaria’s stunning landscapes.
Eco-Conscious Amenities and Design
The new Ecoliving retreat will be comprehensively equipped to meet its sustainable ethos. The plans, drafted by H+S Arquitectos after a tender of €34,522, include adapted rooms, an organic vegetable garden, children’s play areas, recreation zones, and parking. A key feature will be the implementation of low-energy consumption systems, including the use of renewable energy sources, minimizing the environmental footprint of the entire operation.
Collaborative Funding for a Local Project
This ambitious revitalization of a local landmark is not just a municipal effort. The Valleseco council has confirmed that the Canary Islands Government and the Gran Canaria Island Council (Cabildo) have also contributed to financing the project, highlighting its regional importance and alignment with broader sustainable tourism initiatives.
