Major Cruise Influx for Arrecife
Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, is preparing for a significant wave of maritime tourism as its port welcomes six cruise ships between Thursday, October 9th, and Sunday, October 12th. This bustling period will see more than 14,000 passengers disembark to explore the island, according to local authorities.
A Week of Luxury Liners
The maritime activity begins on Thursday with the arrival of the boutique expedition cruise ship, the World Traveller. The schedule intensifies on Friday, October 10th, when the ports of Naos and Los Mármoles will host three major vessels: the Costa Fortuna, the Spirit of Discovery, and the Náutica. The Náutica is scheduled for an extended stay, remaining docked until 10:00 PM.
Weekend Highlights and a Grand Finale
The weekend brings more prestigious visitors. On Saturday, October 11th, the cruise ship Britannia will call at the capital before continuing its journey to Cádiz. The grand finale occurs on Sunday, October 12th, which coincides with Spain’s National Day, Día de la Hispanidad. On this day, Arrecife will receive its single largest influx with over 6,000 cruise passengers arriving on the mega cruise ship MSC Virtuosa, which is en route to Vigo.
Behind the Scenes: The Crew
Beyond the thousands of tourists, these six ship calls also contribute a substantial presence of nearly 4,000 crew members who service the vessels. This combined influx of visitors and maritime personnel is set to bring vibrant energy and significant economic activity to the heart of Lanzarote throughout the long weekend.
