Capture Arona’s Hidden Gems in New Photo Contest
Arona’s Tourism Board has launched ‘Mi rincón favorito de Arona’ (My Favorite Corner of Arona), an Instagram photography contest inviting residents and visitors to showcase the municipality’s most special spots. From iconic landscapes and picturesque sunsets to lively parks, hidden gems, local dishes, or bustling plazas—anything that captures Arona’s essence can be submitted. Funded through the Sustainable Tourism Plan, the contest also gives winners a shot at national awards in Spain’s broader ‘Mi rincón favorito’ competition.
Celebrating Arona Through Local Lenses
The goal is to spark creativity in digital photography, generate engaging social media content, and promote cultural storytelling. By letting users share what they find most representative of Arona, the contest amplifies tourism promotion organically. Naím Yánez, Councilor for Tourism, Culture, and Historical Heritage, says: “This is a chance for locals and visitors to reveal, through their own eyes, what makes Arona unique. We want people to share places that move them or shape their daily lives—and to broadcast that cultural, scenic, and human richness beyond our borders.”
How to Participate
Open to all ages and nationalities, the contest requires photos to be taken in Arona or directly reference the municipality. To enter, simply: 1. Snap a photo (with a phone or camera). 2. Post it on Instagram with hashtags #mirinconfavorito and #mirinconfavoritodearona. 3. Complete the entry form for each submission (available via the same link as contest rules).
The image caption counts as part of the entry and will be judged—emoji use is allowed! Local winners receive €200 (1st prize) or €100 (2nd prize), with the top photo featured on promotional materials like postcards and posters. It will also advance to the national phase, where prizes range from €500 to €50 across 15 awards.
Key Dates and National Reach
Submissions open September 1–21, with winners announced on September 27 to coincide with World Tourism Day. Now in its fifth year nationally, ‘Mi rincón favorito’ has drawn over 8,000 entries across 70 local contests since 2021. Check the official website for the 2024 winners’ gallery.
