Tenisca Mountain Set for Major Transformation
The City Council of Los Llanos de Aridane has announced the approval of a project to revitalize Tenisca Mountain. Funded through the Tourism Sustainability Plan, the initiative will create a sprawling urban park complete with green spaces, rest areas, outdoor sports facilities, a viewpoint, and a panoramic elevator providing easy access to the El Castillo area.
A Vision for Sustainable Development
The project, designed by architects Iñaki Ábalos and Renata Sentkiewicz, was presented to Mayor Javier Llamas and Tourism and Infrastructure Councilor Inmaculada Fernández on Wednesday, July 30. The plan aims to “reactivate the neighborhood socially and economically by introducing new attractions for residents and visitors while expanding the city southward with an integrated, sustainable vision.”
Creating a New Cultural Landmark
Mayor Llamas emphasized the project’s goal: “We want to transform an underused space into a vibrant, green area full of opportunities for the community. This will improve quality of life for Tenisca Mountain residents while establishing a new cultural and tourist landmark for Los Llanos.”
Revitalizing Community Spaces
Councilor Fernández highlighted the city’s commitment to reclaiming the area as a gathering place: “The design includes spacious, accessible green zones for daily use. This area holds great potential, and we’re now activating it with a forward-thinking approach.”
Spotlight on El Castillo
The project will integrate the iconic Castillo de La Virgen—a local symbol and focal point of the Patron Saint Festivities—into a scenic walking route. This pathway will encourage leisurely strolls, community interaction, and appreciation of the natural surroundings.
A Sustainable Future for Los Llanos
The Tenisca Mountain urban park represents “a transformative vision for the municipality—more sustainable, accessible, and focused on residents’ well-being. It’s another step toward building a city shaped by careful planning, community input, and continuous improvement,” the announcement concluded.
